“I took my truck over to Smith's Auto Repair after the dealership diagnosed my truck with needing a new engine that would cost me $10k. That was hard for me to believe when I didn't have a check engine light that came on, just a rattling noise. I went to Smith's for a second opinion, they did a thorough check of my vehicle and did not find what the dealership suggested. Chris and Michael were great in assisting me, they advised me that they are a few things that may be causing my issue and they made the repairs that they felt was the issue and they were correct. My truck is running like new, they correctly diagnosed the problem and I am extremely appreciative of their honesty and there willingness to solve my problem. They are a great team at Smith's Auto Repair!”

“Had issue with oil leak in my van that resulted in a big issue. I called Smith�s after getting multiple suggestions via Facebook. It was Thursday afternoon that I called and made an appointment for Friday morning. Michael was super helpful and straightforward with me. When I described the issue, he seemed confident what it could be and made no promises but said he would definitely look at it but may not get it done same day. I did say with multiple kiddos and various doctors appointments, the sooner the better would help us out. I dropped it off and my wife drove me home. Low and behold, not only did they look at it, they got it fixed at a super reasonable price. I was stranded without a car and Michael personally came and picked me up! I was impressed with their work and how they stayed on top of getting our family van back on the road! Yes they are busy and yes there is a lot of work but when they do good work and an affordable price, it�s natural they need time to look at, order parts and fix your vehicle. I hope I don�t have any issues with my vehicles but if I do, I know where I can take it! Thank you Michael and everyone at Smith�s!”

“Place is always busy. Great prices and good customer service. I love that they put after market items on your vehicle when you purchase them from a retailer. Any issues that aren�t fixed the first time, are fixed by trying to resolve that issue for free. Amazing shop that has had 5 stars for the 8 years I have been in Katy. The alignment for your car is $60, that�s $30+ cheaper then anywhere else! Highly recommend you give these place a chance!”

“I usually bring my vehicle to the dealer since it is under warranty but it is starting to phase out of warranty and while I like the dealer I bring it to, its a bit of a hike. I have been looking for a shop closer to home that I can trust and after doing a bit of research came across Smith's. It had been established for over a decade and kept busy which is usually a good indicator of doing good work. Customer retention seems very high.

I had some vibration at the brake pedal when using it at 65mph or higher. They quickly diagnosed this as a rotor issue and resurfaced both on the axle. I also got an alignment too as I have never had one. Price seemed fairly economical although that's not my primary concern or reason for going there. Taken it for a few drives and seems resolved.

While it was my first visit, they've earned my trust so far for future work.”

“I highly recommend Smith Auto. I took my truck to them for a 2nd opinion I got from a franchise mechanic. Glad I did! They were honest with me and told me the issues that I had where the other place wanted me to replace items that were not necessary. They didn�t start the repairs until they gave me prices on the work that needed to be done and once I gave them the ok to do it they got right on it. They were hundreds cheaper in price than other shops I got qoutes from. They are a very busy shop, and now I see why. There customer service, prices and honesty were beyond my expectation! “One of the best auto repair shops I have been into before. I just heard of them 1 month ago when my 2013 ford fusion started misfiring, I took it to the dealership who charged me $120 because I didn't buy their extended warranty, they called me later to tell me that I need to change a whole fuel line and few other things for $1300, I was about to give them the green light before changing my mind after calling a mechanic friend of mine who recommended this place, Smith's auto repair, to me. I took the car to them and with a friendly faces and smiles they welcomed me and gave appointment for the next day, and they said that they need to check and most likely it would be just a spark plug or coil, anyway next day these guys did the diagnosis for free to find that a small debrie caused the clog and the car was up and running again with no single dollar, next week I drove the car to Alabama in a road trip and back to katy with no issues, I was to pay the dealership $1300 for nothing and these guys saved my money.

They are honest, they will do anything to help you and fix your ride and they won't trick you to pay big bucks for nothing. I would give them even more than 5 if possible.”

“I cannot rave enough about Smith's! First and foremost, the level of service they provide is phenomenal. I just moved to the Katy area from Houston and I didn't have any information on local mechanics.

I researched on Yelp for mechanics with good ratings and Smith's came highly recommended. My truck appeared to have a leak of some sort, but wasn't sure what it was. When I called, Chris answered, told me to drop it off and they would be happy to take a look... Free of Charge!

I took my truck there and they kept in contact with me. They ran multiple tests to ensure nothing was wrong. Now normally a dealership or chain mechanic would do unnecessary tests to charge $200 to even look at a car. Not Smith's. They apologized they couldn't find anything, triple checked to be sure, and told me no charge!

I will definitely be coming back to Smith's in a heartbeat! Highly recommended!”

“WOW! I would give ten stars if I could. I needed a speed sensor replaced, so I bought the part myself and called around for estimates. Smith's Auto gave me an estimate of $60-$70 while other shops wanted to charge me in the $100s range. I met with Chris and he was so friendly and honest. Each time he spoke to me and other customers, he had a sweet smile on his face and told them what they needed and didn't need for their car. And, they get A LOT of business. When I arrived, there was only one spot for me to park! My car was done by the afternoon and I paid the $60 for labor. My car is running even better than before! This shop is a little out of my range since it's kind of a far drive, but it was well worth the trip. Thank you, Smith Auto!”

“A death in the family is always a rough time. So much to plan and do. Couple that with a broken vehicle when you are traveling from out of town and you have a potential disaster on your hands.
I called around several shops and it being Easter week, some garages were shorthanded and all were busy. Yes, I even delicately tried to input that I was from out of town and had to attend to my Sisters funeral arrangements, but I understand the situation they were in. I called Smith's Auto Repair and was immediately treated with respect and compassion. They got me in the day after I called and completed the job on time and on budget. Thank you so much for making a difficult situation a little bit better.

This is the most honest mechanic shop I have ever dealt with, they only charged me $30.00 for something another shop was charging me $200.00 for an Audi!! So you make your own conclusion. They definitely earned a long term customer.”

“This is the second time I have used them, and my family uses them as well. I have an older car right now and it is begining to have older car problems. This place is excellent, they're trustworthy and they work quickly. My first repair here was an altenator, I had classes until 6 so they let me pay over the phone and left my keys and the reciept in the car. Someone forgot to leave my car unlocked though so I had to have Katy PD (call their non emergency line for a free pop lock) to unlock my car door. The car drove beautifully until a few months later. It had a hard, inconsistent idle and would stall out if I didn'bt put it in neutral at stop lights (it is an automatic) Smith's Auto Shop quickly found the issue, called me before doing any work to inform me of the cost and time frame I'd have my car back. They ordered the part from the Mazda dealership, had it deliever and repaired early this morning. I paid less than 130$ for the repair and I am so relieved!!
I highly recommend them, locally owned, fast,efficent and they only repair what you ask for them to repair!”

“Brought my Ford F150 in for 2 items, they fixed my vibration in the steering wheel which was caused by my warped rotors, they diagnosed my transmission issue and referred me to Gary's Transmission on Franz Rd. They even brought my car over there first thing in the morning so I didn't have to (very nice touch). Paid by phone for rotor repair and Gary's did an amazing job as well fixing my transmission in about a day and a half. Very pleased with both shops and will use and recommend them to anyone who asks. “Owning a Suzuki can be dreadful thing when you live in Katy. Both Houston dealerships are 50 miles away. After numerous 'rip offs' from a so called 'Christian' auto mechanic chain, I tried Smith's. The problem was my vehicle stability light and emergency brake light kept flashing. I tried the other place, and spent additional $50.00 on top of the warranty, for a diagnostic check up. Pulling at of the shop and lights came right back on at Fry and Clay. Brought the SUV to Smith's and got a call the next day that I had no brake fluid! So the other place charged me for a 'full' diagnostic check and did not check fluids.
Smith's not only found the problem, but they DID NOT EVEN CHARGE ME FOR ANYTHING! I mean really, I did not believe there where mechanics like that left. Needless to say, had my other car there two weeks later for brand new brakes. They have a lifelong customer. Amazing customer service and they are honest.”

“Before I got in the door I had a good vibe about Smiths Auto..Chris in the front was very polite and helpful.. I was having ac problems and they checked it out and found out it needed to be look out further cause it probably was electrical since it was full of freon and the fuses were good..no charge that day so I took it back Monday they found the problem a relay switch. .it wasn't that expensive and I always had good service from all I dealt with and Brain the owner was the best and told me if I had any issues with ac to make sure I give him a call and that's what I plan to do if I need anything else done to my car..I've recommended them to some friends and whoever else is looking for a good and honest mechanic Smiths Automotive is the place to call!”

“Awesome service! This shop was recommended by Katy Lube since our vehicle had a check engine light on that would not pass state inspection. Smith Automotive had to replace a bad cat and an O2 sensor. After driving the vehicle for a short time thereafter, the dreaded check engine light came back on caused by the same O2 sensor. We took it in a second time to Smith Automotive, They spent a great deal of time to check of the grounds, wiring to the ECM, and the sensor. Finally they determined that the sensor must be bad from the factory (not a common occurance), they replaced the sensor and spent a lot of time running tests to ensure that the vehicle would pass inspection. Once they determined the vehicle would pass inspection, (we left our proof of insurance with them) they took it to Katy Lube for inspection. It passed and they only charged us for the inspection. It shows you that they definately stand behind their work! Brian and Chris are really nice to deal with.”

“I took my car to Smith's Auto Repair for an overall inspection for repair, fluids change, and a replacement of all four struts. Brian Smith and his team had been referred to me by my girlfriend's family who claim they have been using him for many years.

I found that Brian was very personable and seems very honest. My car drives 100% smoother than before and the price that I paid was $200 - $500 less than other shops quoted me. He backed his work up with a one year, 12,000 mile warranty and stressed that if I had any problem with the work, to call him and bring my car.

I had a great experience and I will use his business again.”
